Although small and not very rich in population,Serbia gave the world many great champions. Among the most popular sports in Serbia are football,basketball,water polo,volleyball ,tennis and each of them has its own worldwide famous athletes.

Novak Djokovic is a Serbian professional tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 1 in men’s singles tennis by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).  Djokovic is the first Serbian player to be ranked No. 1 by the ATP. Djokovic has won 16 Grand Slam singles titles, five ATP Finals titles, 33 ATP Tour Masters 1000 titles, 13 ATP Tour 500 titles, and has held the No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings for over 270 weeks. He has won numerous awards, including the Laureus World Sports Award for Sportsman of the Year (four times) and the 2011 BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year award.

Serbian worldwide famous tennis players are also Janko Tipsarevic,Viktor Troicki,Nenad Zimonjic,Ana Ivanovic, Jelena  Jankovic.

Vlade Divac is a professional basketball executive and retired player, currently serving as the vice president of basketball operations and general manager of the Sacramento Kings. He was among the first group of European basketball players to transfer to the NBA in the late 1980s and was named one of the 50 Greatest EuroLeague Contributors.  Aside from being noticed for his basketball abilities, Divac is also known as a humanitarian, helping children in Serbia.

Today,some of the biggest names in Serbian basketball are Nikola Jokic,Bogdan Bogdanovic,Boban Marjanovic,Milos Teodosic etc.

Ivana Spanovic is a Serbian long jumper, reigning World indoor champion and reigning European indoor champion.  She is the Serbian record holder in the long jump, indoors and outdoors, and also she is the national indoor record holder in the 60 metres and in the pentathlon. 

Nemanja Vidic  is a Serbian retired professional footballer. He most notably played for Manchester United, and was part of the Serbia national team.In his prime, Vidić was regarded as one of the best defenders in the world.

Serbian all-time greats in football were Dragan Stojkovic,Sinisa Mihajlovic  and Dejan Stankovic.
