Serbian Great Minds

Some of you probably didn’t know that some of the greatest scientists and biggest minds in history are coming from Serbia. Our duty is to remind you of their origin.

Nikola Tesla  was a genius inventor  and engineer who created some groundbreaking inventions. Throughout his career, Tesla discovered, designed and developed ideas for a number of important inventions most of which were officially patented by other inventors .He was also a pioneer in the discovery of radar technology, X-ray technology, remote control and the rotating magnetic field- the basis of most AC machinery. Tesla is most well-known for his contributions in AC electricity and for the Tesla coil. Tesla held 300 patents to his name when he died. Without question Tesla was a genius. He spoke eight languages. He could visualize devices entirely in his head and then build them without ever writing anything down. Tesla lived to be 86 and was celibate his entire life. Impressive, right?

Mihajlo Pupin was a physicist who devised a means of greatly extending the range of long-distance telephone communication by placing loading coils at predetermined intervals along the transmitting wire. Pupin discovered that atoms struck by X-rays emit secondary X-ray radiation. He also invented a means for taking short-exposure X-ray photographs. Pupin received  Pulitzer Prize in biography for his autobiographical work From Immigrant to Inventor.

Milutin Milankovic ranks among those great scientists of the world who have marked the 20th century, in recognition of which a crater on the Moon, another on Mars and a planetoid were named after him.  He was a polymath – a civil engineer, professor of applied mathematics, climatologist, and populizer of science who produced a robust mathematical explanation of recurring ice ages and climate change on our planet. Milankovic dedicated his career to developing a mathematical theory of climate based on the seasonal and latitudinal variations of solar radiation received by the Earth-now known as the Milankovic Theory.
